Lale Akarun has become the new president of International Association of Pattern Recognition (IAPR). She will serve as the president between 2026-2028 and as the past president between 2028-2030.
Lale Akarun has become the new president of IAPR

At the International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR), held in Lyon, France on 17–22 August 2026, a new executive committee was elected for the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). On the six-member committee, Lale Akarun will serve as President from 2026 to 2028, and as Past President from 2028 to 2030.

Founded in 1976, IAPR is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing research by fostering international collaboration in pattern recognition, computer vision and image processing.
